| Description | Letter sent from William Gustin Lowry (Gus) to his mother Rhoda Stone Lowry. This letter was written a few days after the Confederate Army fled their stronghold at Yorktown. Gus's company has been held back on reserve rather than sent to chase after the retreating Confederates. He writes of his anger at hearing that many people up north do not agree with McClellan's strategies, because McClellan's decisions saved the lives of many men. |
