DescriptionThis is a letter from James Graham to his father, dated October 7, 1864. Graham states that he has been recovering from a cold, and he does not believe that it is the ague which was the doctor's diagnosis. He mentions that his regiment has been encamped on a battleground. The regiment has been building Fort Brady along the James River which they will to have complete within nine days. He writes that he is glad to learn that his father had sold the oxen. He also says that he has sent money home with a Samuel Brown, and that a man he knows named Clark Allison has died of typhoid, and that his body is being sent home. He writes that many men in his company are ill, mostly from fever and ague.
