| Description | Letter sent by Judge Thomas White to his wife Catherine White from Baltimore on January 19, 1864. Judge White is waiting to hear if the most recent attempt to free his son Harry from Confederate imprisonment has been successful. He writes that even though those working to free Harry have been trying to do so in secret, all of the newspapers are reporting on the story. None of the papers, however, has gotten the story right. Judge White says that there is a good chance that Jefferson Davis will consent to Harry's release, but he will not believe Harry is free until he sees Harry himself. |
