	Claude Buss Title Claude Buss Subject Alumni & alumnae Buss, Claude A. (Claude Allbert) Susquehanna University Description Claude Buss, a member of the class of 1924, handled the surrender of Manila for the State Department during World War II. He was later held by the Japanese as a prisoner of war from 1942 to 1943. After his release, Buss continued to serve the State Department and worked closely with General MacArthur during the occupation and rebuilding of Japan.
