| Description | Mary Landon Russell, a 1933 graduate of Lycoming College, is presented with a rocking chair bearing the Lycoming College logo as the outstanding alumnus. Mrs. Russell, an associate professor of music at the college since 1936, attended Julliard and Eastman schools of music and received a master of arts in music from the Pennsylvania State University. Her masters thesis concerned the history of music in Williamsport. She helped to organize the Williamsport Civic Chorus and Williamsport Music Club. She has been active in church affairs as an elder, Sunday School teacher, and chairman of the music committee. |
