Selected Readings and ReferencesEighteenth-Century Colonial Formularies:
The Manuscripts of George de Benneville and Abraham Wagner
In the following, we provide selected sources and further readings which the user of this website may wish to consult regarding usage, precedence and sources, and contextual information. The readings are not meant to be inclusive.
To facilitate access, we have subdivided entries by relevant categories and included in each selected texts and works regardless of language. For the printed primary sources, we have attempted to provide at least one contemporary translation into the vernacular to indicate the transition from Latin to the various national languages during the 17th and 18th century. Modern reprints are so identified. Where numerous editions are provided, we note that for both the Medicina Pensylvania and the remediorum specimina aliquot ex praxis A.W., accessible editions were used which are pointed out in context.
