The
Allegheny Chronicles is a digital project launched in 2006 by the Warren Library
Association to preserve and provide public access to collected materials documenting history and
economic growth along western Pennsylvania’s Allegheny Watershed.
The current collections of The Allegheny Chronicles
consist of over 300 digital images from the library’s Historic Warren
Photograph Collection and two rare historical publications, The Allegheny Pilot (1855), a detailed navigational study of the
river during the era of early rafting and lumbering and
Improvement of the Allegheny River and Flood Control, (1943) a paper
examining historical flood control and new proposals under consideration during the 1930’s and
40’s. The Allegheny Chronicles project also includes biographical
sketches of the authors and provides links to related digital and printed resources.
